NORMAL LAW

The aim of Normal Law is to maintain handling characteristics within the normal flight envelope, regardless of aircraft speed, altitude, gross weight and Centre of Gravity.

  • The Aircraft is stable and manoeuvrable
  • The same response is consistently obtained from the aircraft
  • The actions on the sidestick are balanced in pitch and in roll

The Normal Law aircraft handling characteristics, at the limits of the flight envelope, are:

  • The Pilot has full authority to achieve maximum aircraft performance
  • In the event of an emergency the Pilot can react instinctively and immediately
  • There is a reduced possibility of over-controlling or overstressing the aircraft

Normal Law is the Flight Control Law that is most commonly available, it can accommodate single failures.
